Friday May 13 Guest Artist Cathy Boyd
On Fri May 13th we were honored by the presentation/demo by Cathy Boyd, an oil painter from Midland ON.
Along with her encouraging words, she described her habit of doing a 37 minute painting a day. She told us that the 37 minute paintings are great for developing skills for plein air. She paints on a 6″ x 8″ or 8″x 10″ canvas and may use them as a reference for larger paintings or sell them as is. She finds smaller paintings are more intimate and sell well. In doing a 37 minute painting you can’t over analyse. She advises to “Paint the dog not the fleas.”
