Rose Tanner Workshop – October 22-23, 2022
Rose Tanner guided the members through her process of painting realistic birds in their habitat. The images chosen for the workshop were the Northern Cardinal and the Western Magpie. She began by encouraging us to set the mood, time of day and a sense of place that we want to create in our paintings. Equally important to consider were the emotion and composition, and what is the center of interest. She was generous with her time explaining her colour choices (couldn’t paint without Transparent Oxidise Brown) and the importance of merging colours in the bird and the background.
The workshop was well received; the members were more than impressed with her calm instructions, sharing of information and tips throughout the two day workshop.
