Friday Night Art Demonstration with Robert Strickland

Robert Strickland, our guest artist, demonstrated his method for an Alla Prima still life oil painting for a dahlia in a vase. Robert brought his own ‘Video Light’ to cast a cool, diffuse light on the subject. Robert used a double primary palette to paint on a prepared canvas.

The artist was careful to ensure that the colour and value of each stroke reflected his observations. Although timing did not allow Robert to complete his painting the attached photos show his beautiful results.
